Merry Christmas and a SUPER New Year!!!

5

It’s the MOST wonderful time of the year!  All the shopping is done, the Christmas menu is set and we’re anticipating the arrival of grandparents and cousins.

My boys are out of school for the next two weeks and I really want to make it a fun and memorable holiday. So, I’m taking a blog break! Instead of spending several hours each day finding and posting deals, I plan to take my boys to the movie or to the local indoor pool or just hang out playing Wits & Wagers.

Although, I love this website and the opportunity it gives me to share my passion for saving money, I don’t want to miss the MOST important things right in front of me – three super boys who are growing up way too fast! My readers are awesome and I thank you for allowing me this time to focus on my family.

And I hope you’re able to take a break from all the busyness that seems to consume our daily lives and just…rest. Put your phone down, get off Facebook and enjoy the family and friends who surround you. Life seems to pass us by at breakneck speed. Don’t miss it!

I must add one more thing….

We live in the midst of a culture that continues to remove “Christ” from Christmas and by doing so attempts to censor 83% off the American population who claim to be Christians. Like ESPN dropping a Christmas ad for a Catholic children’s hospital because it references “God” And “Jesus” (they’ve since reversed that decision due to public outcry) or officials at a Long Island, NY intermediate school omitting “holy infant” and “Christ the savior,” from the popular Christmas carol, Silent Night, there is such fear of offending a small minority that our holiday has been completely diluted.

As a mom, it saddens me to know my boys are growing up in America, the land of the free, where they aren’t free to say what they believe.

But that doesn’t mean we should hide under rocks. I will teach my boys to be bold and to stand strong in the face of opposing views. And not because I want them to be tough or to bully others or to be proven right, but because, “I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes.”

I’m thankful for that little baby who arrived over 2,000 years ago to bring salvation to everyone who believes…even the ESPN executive or the principal at Ralph J. Osgood Intermediate School.

  1. Natalie, your sentiments about the busyness and true meaning of Christmas were spot-on, and how wonderful that you aren’t afraid or ashamed to raise your boys to feel the same way. Enjoy your time with those boys…I know too well how quickly it goes! Merry CHRISTmas to all of you!

  2. Enjoy your break and time with family because they grow up sooner than you think. I feel blessed that my 14 yr old offered to take me to the movies during his break. They never want that at 14 but he does this week. Rhee are true gifts to us.
