This was written by one of my dear friend’s moms and clearly captures Texans’ tenacity during Hurricane Harvey!
You know you’re in Texas when Chick-fil-a gets a call-in order for a meal AND a boat, then the manager sends rescuers on jet skis to deliver the order and pick up the customers!
You know you’re in Texas when you see cowboys driving a herd of cattle through waist deep water on an Interstate highway.
You know you’re in Texas when, as far as you can see, pickups are pulling boats TOWARD a hurricane (and finding places to unload so they can find and rescue people trapped by rising water)!
You know you’re in Texas when no one waits to hear State or Federal rescue plans before they go in and help rescue hurricane victims.
You know you’re in Texas when people of every race, color and creed reach out to help one another without thought of dangers to themselves!
You know you’re in Texas when the rescue and recovery efforts are meticulously planned and executed by local, state, and national governments without posturing or bickering!
You know you’re in Texas when there is no violence – only careful, committed, tireless efforts to help those in need.
You know you’re in Texas when you hear God’s name mentioned in the form of a blessing rather than an accusation.
I love this state!!! ❤️ Thank you, heroes of Hurricane Harvey!!
Be sure to read this post for ways to help the victims and hear Laura’s story of evacuation.
