I drove the 25 miles to downtown Dallas this morning and headed to the WFAA studios at Victory Park, just blocks away from where five Dallas policemen lost their lives.
After my Good Morning Texas segment (which you can watch below), I took a drive through the streets just to get a sense of what I’ve been seeing on the news. Even though it’s been five days, there’s still a huge police presence, with numerous streets block off with yellow tape, barricades, and armed officers.
There was also a sadness on people’s faces as I watched them walk along the sidewalk and look down the street to where the madness occurred.
And at the entrance to El Centro, the college campus where the gunman began his rampage, the flags remain lowered and flowers mark the spot.
As I drove down Lamar Ave., I saw a few news crews broadcasting their daily briefings.
But it was in front of the Dallas Police Headquarters, where most of the news crew (local and national) were positioned and the ever-growing memorial with flowers, balloons and notes of condolences was surrounded by civilians, policemen and firemen who had all come to pay their respects.
