I bet a lot of you are starting to make those summer vacation plans. Well, according to a recent report by Cheap Air,the magic number of days before a flight when tickets are at their cheapest is…..
{Drum roll, please}
Fifty-four days before departure! That’s when domestic airline tickets are at their absolute lowest price. But don’t worry, if you don’t hit that magic “54 day” mark, just book between 104 to 29 days before your trip. That’s considered the “prime booking window” and should result in the lowest possible prices. Supposedly, within this window, airfare with hover around $10 of the lowest prices they’ll ever reach.
Now, some air travelers tend to believe a last-minute booking will get them the lowest price. WRONG. CheapAir found that, on average, a ticket was at its highest price on the day before the flight, two days before was the second worst, the third-highest was three days before…. all the way up to 13 days in advance.
